A Legacy of Growth
1957

McFarland Ford is founded by Frank O. Patterson of Greenland, NH, and Donald J. McFarland of Rye, NH. Henry McFarland, Donald's son, joins the dealership and helps establish the foundation for a family business that continues today.

1960

The dealership relocates from its original converted barn on Court Street to Portsmouth Avenue, expanding its ability to serve the growing Exeter community.

1966

Construction begins on the dealership's current home at 151 Portsmouth Avenue in Exeter, where McFarland Ford continues to serve customers today.

1985

The McFarland family expands its automotive presence by opening Hampton Ford in North Hampton, New Hampshire.

2017

An all-new McFarland Ford showroom opens, featuring modern amenities, comfortable waiting areas, a fireplace lounge, and enhanced customer conveniences designed to elevate the dealership experience.

2023

McFarland Ford of Rochester opens, bringing the McFarland commitment to customer service to drivers throughout the Greater Rochester area.

2024

McFarland Kia joins the McFarland Automotive Group, expanding vehicle choices for customers across the Seacoast.

2025

McFarland Nissan opens in Stratham, NH, adding another major manufacturer to the growing McFarland Automotive Group and further strengthening our commitment to serving New Hampshire drivers.
